Akraborg

Founded in 1989 in Akranes, Akraborg is the world's largest producer of premium canned cod liver products, supplying brands and private labels globally. Majority-owned by Lysi, Iceland's leading fish oil company, since 2015. Akraborg uses cod livers as a secondary stream from cod fisheries: the fishermen target the fish, and Akraborg takes the liver, making it a model of full-utilisation seafood processing. Operates two facilities in Akranes and Olafsvík.
