K&K is the house brand of Kokubu, a Tokyo food-and-drink trading group whose lineage in Nihonbashi reaches back to 1712. In 2010 its Kan-tsuma line more or less created Japan's premium canned-appetiser category, tins of oil-packed sardine, Kyushu yellowtail and smoked oyster built to be eaten over a drink rather than kept as rations, from everyday prices up into the thousands of yen, contract-packed to K&K's specification rather than canned in-house.
