Sadaf was founded in 1982 by two Iranian brothers who had just immigrated to Los Angeles and found none of the saffron, dried lime, or rosewater they needed on local grocery shelves, so they began importing it themselves. What started as seventeen products from a three-person team has grown into the largest Iranian-American food brand in the US, still run by the founding Soofer family from the same Los Angeles base. Its tinned tuna, packed in Ecuador, sits in a Sadaf pantry range built for Persian and wider Middle Eastern households, alongside the herbs and pickles the brand was actually founded to supply.
