Slovenian Istria

Slovenia's short but storied stretch of Adriatic coast around the town of Izola, historically the centre of the country's fish-canning industry. Izola's canneries were among the most important in the former Yugoslavia, and the tradition continues through producers including Delamaris and Izola, packing sardines, mackerel, and tuna. The Slovenian Istrian coast shares the rich upper-Adriatic fishery with neighbouring Croatia and Italy.
