The Liverpool region of north-west England, historic heart of British industrial fish canning. The great port city was home to the brands that defined canned fish for generations of British households: John West, a name in canned salmon and tuna since the 19th century, and Princes, founded in Liverpool in 1880. Both remain headquartered here. Tuna, salmon, sardines, and mackerel define the Merseyside output.
