Warm the tin first
The one trick worth knowing. 747 tins in stock take to it.
Warming first is the one trick worth knowing, and it costs nothing. Drop the unopened tin in a bath of hot tap water for about five minutes before you open it; the fish and oil warm through, the flavors loosen, and a tin eaten straight tastes more alive than one cold off the shelf. It does the most for the oil and butter packs you eat with bread, less for a tin you are about to cook into something anyway. Some 747 tins are worth the five minutes. No stove, no pan, nothing to clean.
The move
Sit the unopened tin in hot water for five minutes.
