A peninsular nation with one of the world's most seafood-intensive food cultures and a major fishing and processing industry anchored at the southern port of Busan. Korea is among the largest consumers of canned tuna anywhere, and its great seafood houses, Dongwon, the country's largest fishing company, and Sajo, grew from the Busan fleet into global operators. Alongside tuna, Korean producers pack mackerel, saury, and a wide range of seafood in the distinctive local style, often spiced with gochujang or soy.
