Lake Sevan

Armenia's largest lake, high in the Gevorkian highlands, and the country's defining freshwater fishery. Its endemic ischkhan (Sevan trout) and the introduced sig (whitefish, brought from Lake Ladoga in the 1920s) became national food staples; both have been canned locally, though wild stocks are now protected and farmed.
