Patagonia Provisions

Yvon Chouinard's clothing company created Patagonia Provisions as a food division in 2012, run from a remote office in Sausalito rather than the Ventura headquarters. Its mussels are grown on rafts in the Ría de Arousa and canned by Conservas Antonio Pérez Lafuente of Vilanova de Arousa, a family firm dating to 1892 and the first in the European Union certified organic for canned mussels, which returns part of the steaming broth to each tin instead of discarding it. Anchovies and sardines are bought direct from the Cantabrian cofradías on the Bay of Biscay rather than through commodity markets.
