Paese Mio

Paese Mio is an Italian anchovy brand built for the everyday pantry, its range running from fillets in sunflower oil to hot-pepper fillets, salted fillets, and paste in a tube. The sunflower-oil pack, rather than the olive oil of the premium tins, places it in workaday Italian cooking: the anchovy you melt into a sauce or a puttanesca rather than lay over toast. It reaches North American shelves mainly through Italian importers and delis, frequently under the Italissima banner.
