About this data
Every figure on either site comes from a shop's own product page. This page is the definition of each one: what is collected, how it is counted, and what is not claimed.
Where the numbers come from
Prices and stock come from the retailers’ own product pages, collected daily. Every change is kept, which is what makes a price history and a verdict possible at all.
Nothing is listed from a producer’s catalogue. A tin exists here because a shop we track lists it.
What a price is
The price shown for a tin is the cheapest tracked listing at a shop that had it in stock at the last update, before shipping. Every price is stated in the shop’s own currency and is never converted.
A euro row and a dollar row therefore sit side by side, and no total is taken across them. Shipping, taxes and duties are not added, because shops state those at checkout and per destination.
What per 100g divides by
Per 100g divides the price by the drained weight the label declares, not by the gross weight of the tin.
A tin that declares 84g drained in a 120g tin is priced on the 84g. Where a label declares no drained weight, the row waits rather than guessing.
The ninety days
Ninety days is the only window. The verdict is a comparison against the ninety-day average, and the low and high are read off the same series.
Stock is in or out
Shops do not publish quantities, so a listing is either in stock or it is not.
Nothing infers low stock, and nothing counts units.
What a deal is
A deal is a price drop detected in our own record, or a shop sale our record backs.
A shop calling something a sale is not enough on its own.
What sits under what
A tin sits under a shop when the shop lists it, under a house when the label names the producer, and under a species when the label or listing names that fish.
A region holds the houses that can there, not every tin sold there.
When a listing disappears
A listing that vanishes is checked before it is declared gone. Duplicates are merged, and a certification stands only if the source page supports it.
Automated collection still produces errors, gaps and stale entries.
The two dashes
A pair of en dashes means the query behind that row has not been run. It is never a zero, never the word pending, and never a figure from another window relabelled.
Rows are shown with their gaps so the shape of the record is visible.
Why the two sites differ
AllTinned counts what is documented. MrTinned counts what is priced now. The same house can therefore carry a different tin count on each site.
That is a difference in definition, not an error.
How this is paid for
Placements are labelled Sponsored, Founder partner or Affiliate. A placement buys position, never opinion.
Coverage and ranking are not for sale. Pro sees no advertising placements.

Affiliate · shop. An affiliate-signed shop from the default pool, rotated, free.
Sponsored · shop. A subscriber to the sponsored slot. Buys position, nothing else.
Founder partner. Paid a year up front early on. The label is permanent.
