Sardines à la sauce Teriyaki
Whole Portuguese sardines at a minimum of seventy percent in a teriyaki sauce of sugar, water, soy and corn starch, thickened and sweet. It is an unusual pack for a Matosinhos cannery and it eats sweeter and saltier than any oil tin: the sauce leads and the sardine reads as the protein under it. Over Japanese steamed rice, donburi style.
